István was born in 1936 in Budapest. He graduated from the Academy of Applied Arts in 1959, where he studied graphic art and painting. He became a member of Obuda and Ujpest artist circles and participated in several group exhibitions. Initially he focused solely on graphics, later he started to paint watercolor, pastel and oil paintings based on sketches made during travelling around the country. He tries to transmit the harmony of nature, purity and tranquility that he found in the Hungarian landscape, the Great Plain and the boonies’ atmosphere.
