Agnes Garabuczy was born in Vésztő, Hungary, in 1936. 
She completed her studies in the Secondary School of Art, Budapest, and later graduated as the student of Bertalan Pór at the Academy of Fine Arts. She has been exhibiting her works since 1961.

She is a lyricist and a figurative painter. Her pictures are intimate confessions of our past and present. Ágnes Garabuczy claims, ”I wish to open a gate in the metaphoric entrance into the layers of time, where the audience can enter a weird, mythical world of memories and fragments of dreams concealing secrets, where he is embraced by the tunes of colours.”

Prizes: Mural Competition of Pécs, 1973; First Prize, Fine Art Fund, 1974; Dunakanyar Prize, 1975; Dunakanyar Prize, Esztergom, 1980; Spring Festival Prize, Csepel, 1990; Silver Medal, Grand Prix International de Cannes-Azur, France, 2003; Golden Medal, Grand Prix International de Cannes-Azur, France, 2005.
The majority of her works can be found in the possession of public and private collectors and museums in Vienna, Paris, London, Amsterdam and Belgium, Japan, Switzerland, Greece, Canada and the USA.
